Outdated Comic pt1

Maybe I couldn't blog everyday... at least while i am transitioning my life to 'VAN'. Preparing to squish your whole life into a tiny van is non too pleasant, but so far i have been doing it, and really been okay about it. I hope to sand down and paint that bitch hard, photos of that will be up hopefully sooner rather than later. The only problem is that i have drawn nothing in the past three days, it gives me the itch. Anyway, here is a comic that i did and posted on Facebook a month ago, to critical acclaim... the critics being my close personal friends ...

Outdated Comic Pt2

Sorry about the wacky formating, it was all i could do to make this work, I'm still trying to understand the mysteries of Blogger.

T-shirt?

I'm trying to design something for Threadless.com I came up with this. There is suposed to be a subtle joke about Gmail chat in there, but my computer mysteriously didn't have Helvetica. What the Helvetica?!

What B&W's?

Yeah, just a black and white drawing today, and please leave it small, there is no need to look at it up close. I could have easily shrunk it down, but it's not one of those days. You know one of those days where you have the ambition to shrink down an image...
I have to admit this blogging thing is pretty neat, can't really get e'nuff of it. and I produce e'nuff content to be able to do it everyday if I wanted to, at least if I resorted to more pencil drawings. This fella here is a gargoyle dog named Grubsy. I dreamed him for an idea I had with one of my friends. I won't divulge anymore about that idea for now. It's very hush hush... Hollywood could be watching.

Sometimes i like to make a drawing and then reverse it and set it next to the original one. It makes me feel good about myself as a person.
This is a character that was inspired by one of Grimm's fairy tales. he is the son of Okerlo, a cannibal, in the story Okerlo eats his two children thinking that they are a young prince come to steal his captured princess.

I drew this today, it's a Mexican stand off between a detective a squid a moray eel and a robot. Tyler Huss, a friend of mine came to visit. and he helped me love this more, he also convinced me to put more detail into the robot, thank Cheezus!

Sir Buzz

There is this great Indian folk tale about a tiny man with a huge beard and appetite. He helps the son of a soldier who helped an unhappy tigress, it's a great story and i like it a lot. It along with several other stories in Tales of the Punjab really inspired me to do a series of illustrations on the book, which admittedly is already well illustrated, but i like drawing dangnabit. Anyway i was telling a Buddhist Friend about it, and he dosn't think that I should. He says it's not my culture i shouldn't borrow from it.(I only mention the Buddhism because I think it's funny considering the history of Buddhism)

I said "Yes, i agree cultural appropriation is a problem, but these are folk tales. "

and he says "Yeah exactly."

Maybe i look at folk tales differently but it seems to me that they are stories that can be told to anyone and changed as they are told. There are of course exceptions. The oral traditions of native tribes, specifically Australian and American are well guarded and only for the ears of certain people, but the stories of Eurasia and Africa are so much more interchangeable. Egypt used to trade gods with the Greeks for Poseidon's sake!

So long story short, i ain't doing it anymore cause he could be right, (I ain't no anthropologist/major in cultural studies) but at least i got to draw Sir Buzz.

Pineapple Art Center

There is a store. It's in a town, near a lake. Sometimes I work there. They can't pay me, and there is no one who is the boss. There is a girl there who is afraid that the boss that doesn't pay her and isn't existing will fire her. I made them (us?) this poster for the Grand opening. At first i thought that it sucked real bad, but now i kinda like it.
You can be Friends with that store on facebook. They really like it when you talk about them, to each other, favorably. They call it word of mouth, pretty dope huh? Just search Pineapple Art Duluth!
